People of Witney. Do you love the green as much as we do? We often like to take a moment to gaze out of the window at the daffodils. We think it reaches its full potential on a Sunday. Church bells, walkers, a real traditional Sunday feel.

At the Fleece, we do something special on a Sunday – our Sunday best menu. Think top quality beef, lamb or pork from Aubrey Allen, crisp and golden roast potatoes, a generous, well-risen Yorkshire pud, still soft at the base, roast carrots, parsnips and tureens of buttered green veg, horseradish, mustard and mint sauce ready on the table – and unlimited supplies of hot gravy. Season to taste with your choice of family and friends – and when it’s finally time to go, all you have to do is wave to your waitress and leave us with the washing-up.

“We arrived unannounced during a very busy Sunday lunch service but were welcomed and shown to a very nice table albeit not in the restaurant but overlooking the pretty green. Our drinks arrived quickly & a very helpful member of the team explained the very varied menu to us including the specials. Being vegetarian I was so please not to be offered the obligatory ‘pasta’. All our meals arrived promptly & were very generous, we’re big eaters, but were beaten sadly, meaning we wern’t able to sample the desserts. All in all a lovely experience!!!”

“four of us met up for Sunday lunch, never been to Witney before and had booked this after looking on Trip Advisor. We arrived early and were shown to our table straight away. The staff were knowledgeable about the Specials Board, and of the menu. We had two people who have allergies. Service was prompt and the food of an excellent quality. Beer was good as well. When we were finished we were chatting at our table, no attempt to throw us out, even though we could see other tables being re-laid for a second sitting. A great time, we will return. A place for the owners and staff to be proud of, they got it right.”
