Did you see us at Witney Food and Drink Festival?

With the last few warm weekends, we were very much looking forward to a day in the sunshine at this year’s food festival. But alas, it was not to be, and as we woke on Saturday morning, it was clear that it was a coat and wellies type of day.

We didn’t let the weather put us off, and off to the local pavilion we trotted, to set up camp. The cheese was cut, the wine opened (yes it was only 9am!), and our stall was ready to go. Despite a slow start, it wasn’t long until the tasters were flying off the plate and the wine was being sipped. It was 5 o’clock somewhere I guess.

We went off to investigate what was going on in the Church, and wow what a turn out. The hall was packed, with suppliers selling everything from gin to meat, and bread to sweets, the choice was endless. It was quickly filling with people inside, and slowly our stall began drawing attention outside too. We think the  free wine and cheese might have helped.

 Two of our new Summer cheeses were on offer, and if you were lucky enough to get a taste then please do spread the word about just how great they were. Our Blue Monday, a rich, creamy blue with a powerful punch of complex salty and sweet flavours was a real hit, whilst the Double Barrel Poacher, a strong Cheddar-style cheese, was preferred by those who like a feisty flavour. The cheese was all washed down with a good glug of either Tanners Douro, Chilean Merlot or Silver Myn Stellenbosch. We weren’t left with much to carry back to base that’s for sure.

The heavens opened just before 4pm, and our day was up. If you were one of the lucky ones to pick up a voucher during the day, then we hope to see you soon. And for everyone else, be sure to pop down for a drink, we’ll let you know what you missed.
